ABOUT THE MUSIC BUILDING

The year was 1978 when the Music Building first opened its doors to the musicians of New York. Formerly an old piece goods building, it was transformed from a textile plant into a creative hot spot. For the first time in Manhattan's history, musicians had a place they could call home.

Since then, the Music Building has remained the only rehearsal studio in Manhattan catering exclusively to the art of music. It is a haven for musicians of all kinds to coexist peacefully, side by side, with one common goal - to make music. Not everybody who rehearses there goes on to fame and fortune, but the Music Building has spawned musical gems like Madonna, Metallica, Billy Idol, and Anthrax, just to name a few.

So, if you're a musician, why should you rehearse there? Well, for starters it's in Manhattan, which is where you need to be if you're serious. Then there's the vibe. There's so much creative energy coursing through the building it's contagious & inspiring. You might even find a little romance, but were not promising anything here except that your neighbors will be loud. But what do you expect for such reasonable rates? Yes, we understand that you need to eat so our monthly rates are cheap. Rooms come in a variety of different sizes to fit your needs & your budget. We've even included 24 hour security for your peace of mind; no unwanted visitors are allowed.

You can furnish your rented room as you like, and you can leave all of your equipment there. You'll need to bring your own locks and install them yourself, but we do provide you with an industrial steel door to put them on. Also included in every room is overhead fluorescent lighting and electrical outlets to plug in your gear. All we require is that you pay your rent, and keep the space undamaged.

The Music Building is a place to meet other musicians. We've got a bulletin board with postings on finding a band member, or auditioning for a band yourself.
