Penguin Productions was originated in the Fall of 1994. Over the past
six years it has completed five stage productions, all funded solely by
its artistic director Joseph Donovan Guido. In the year 2001, Penguin
Productions is stepping up into the realm of a professional theater &
film company with the intention of putting on two original staged productions
& the making of two films through December 2002. The stage productions
will include three week performance runs, advertising, & working with
a public relations company for exposure. Theater Development Fund will
also be involved in promoting & ticket distribution. The first film
will be a short, and the second is slated to be a full length feature.
The stage plays will be not-for-profit, while the films will be for-profit.
The company's mission is to produce & promote high quality original
works for the stage & screen; addressing universal themes, while conveying
positive messages. Our plays & films provide us with the opportunity
to move people, affect them in a positive way, & possibly make a difference
in their lives. Pursuing this endeavor makes it possible for talented
writers, actors, & directors to strengthen their craft in a professional
environment, resulting in the presentation of their work, not only to
the New York City community, but also throughout the world.
The ultimate goal is for Penguin Productions is to have it's own freestanding
theater with a permanent home, as well as a fully functioning film production
company. The theater will be open year round, creating a reputation for
itself as a respected theater company & theater school for actors,
writers, & directors. In it's continuous effort to serve & better
the community, it shall also provide a creative outlet for underprivileged,
abused, & less fortunate children where they can learn about the arts.
The Theater Company will sustain itself through ticket sales, grants,
& revenue generated by its film division.
